Christopher Eichler completed a PhD thesis in the Quantum device lab in 2013 for which he was awarded an ETH Medal. In 2014 he moved on to Princeton University where he was a Dicke postdoctoral fellow until rejoining the Quantum device lab in summer 2016 as a Senior Scientist. After leaving our group in 2022 he started as a Professor for Experimental Physics at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).

Sebastian Krinner joined our group in January 2016 with a focus on quantum error correction. In 2018, he won the prestigious Lopez-Loreta Prize, and with it a five-year research grant worth 1 million Euros. Previously, during his PhD in Tilmann Esslinger's group at ETH, he worked on quantum transport of ultracold atoms and quantum simulation of devices. For this work, he was awarded an ETH medal and the Chorafas prize 2015. Read more

Farruh worked with us as a PostDoc from October 2010 to August 2015. Previously he carried out a PhD thesis in the group of Prof. Alexey Ustinov at the University of Erlangen, Germany, that he completed in 2004. He continued there as a postdoctoral researcher until 2006, then he moved to Prof. Tsai's group at RIKEN, Japan.

Milan worked with us for two years between October 2012 and October 2014. After leaving the Quantum Device lab he moved to Leiden as Assistant Professor to build up the Allan lab.

Milan's research focused on strongly correlated electrons and unconventional superconductivity. To understand the emergence of these phases, he visualized the electronic structure of exotic materials in real and momentum space with angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (St Andrews) and spectroscopic imaging STM (Cornell).

Christian Andersen joined the group as a PostDoc in October 2016. During his postdoc, Christian focused on designing and operating superconducting qubit devices for quantum error correction. Christian obtained his PhD at Aarhus University, Denmark, where he studied the theory and design of quantum devices with superconducting circuits. After leaving our group he started as an Assistant Professor at TU Delft where his lab develops novel superconducting qubits.

Matthias joined our group as a Master-thesis student. He then carried out a PhD thesis in our group and continued to work with us as a PostDoc. In October 2012 Matthias moved on to the new group of Arkady Fedorov at the University of Queensland, Australia.

was a PostDoc with us from Sept. 2006 to Aug. 2007. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab Parisa was as a PostDoc in the Quantum Photonics Group of Prof. Atac Imamoglu at ETH Zurich. Parisa holds a PhD in Applied Physics from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA and a B.S. in Physics from Imperial College, London, U.K.

was a PostDoc at the Quantum Device Lab from March 2010 to December 2012. After leaving QuDev Arkady was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, Australia and is Chief Investigator of the SQD Lab.

Arkady received his PhD in 2005 from Clarkson University, US.  He joined the group of Prof. Gerd Schoen at the University of Karlsruhe as a PostDoc in 2006, working on a theory of superconducting qubits. He transferred to TU Delft in 2007, working with Prof. Hans Mooij and his group on conducted experiments with the flux qubit.

Quentin Ficheux worked with us as a PostDoc from July 2021 to September 2022. Previously, he obtained his PhD from ENS Paris and Lyon. Since 2019, he was a PostDoc at the Joint Quantum Institute at the University of Maryland, where he worked on Fluxonium qubits. After leaving our lab, he moved on to a permanent CNRS research position in the Quantum Electronic Circuit team at Néel Institute, Grenoble, France.

Stefan Filipp was a PostDoc at the Quantum Device Lab from January 2008 to May 2014. After leaving our group he joined IBM T. J. Watson Research Center as a Research Staff Member in Experimental Quantum Computing. Since May 2020 he holds a position as Full Professor (Chair) in Physics at TU Munich and as Director of WMI of the BAdW.

first joined our group as an Erasmus Fellow. After receiving a Master's degree in physics from the Univ. of Vienna, he conducted a PhD thesis in our lab for which he was awarded an ETH Medal in 2010. Tobias first joined our group in fall 2007 as a semester thesis student. He then accomplished a master’s thesis at the Nanophysics group of Prof. Klaus Ensslin. After finishing his PhD Thesis in February 2013, which was jointly supervised by Prof. Klaus Ensslin and Prof. Andreas Wallraff, Tobias contiued as a Post Doc until July 2013.

Sébastien joined our group in December 2015 to September 2018. His research focused on the coupling of Rydberg atoms and superconducting qubits in microwave cavities. He previously worked on the development of fiber interfaces between single atoms and single optical photons during his PhD at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, Ecole Normale Supérieure, in Paris, France. After leaving QuDev, Sébastien moved on to "Equipe Photonique Quantique at Collège de France".

joined our group in from July 2014 to September 2018. His research at the Quantum Device Lab focused on quantum geometric phases and interactions between artificial atoms and microwave photons. Simone had previously worked on Cooper-pair pumping, dissipation in driven quantum systems and electron thermometry in metallic and semiconducting nanostructures. Johannes Herrmann joined our group in May 2018 to conduct a PhD thesis in collaboration with Zurich Instruments AG, where he was employed as an RF hardware design engineer. After successfully defending his thesis about quantum machine learning in October 2022, he remained with the Lab as a Postdoc. Prior to joining our group, he obtained a Masters degree in electrical engineering from RWTH Aachen and a degree in applied physics from Keio University in Japan. He left our group in September 2023.

worked as a PostDoc with us between 2007- 2009, on superconducting circuits and circuit quantum electrodynamics, with an EU Marie Curie Fellowship between 2007-2008. From 2010 he joined the Nanophysics Group of Prof. Klaus Ensslin at ETH Zurich.  In 2011 Peter became an EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellow at the Department of Physics at Oxford University. Mintu was a PostDoc in our group from April 2013 to March 2016. He obtained his PhD at Tata Institute of fundamental research in Mumbai, India. After leaving our group Mintu joined at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore USA, Group Prof. Peter Armitage, as a Research Staff Member in working on THz and infrared spectroscopy of topological insulators and other strongly correlated electron systems.

Graham Norris started as a PhD student in October 2018, working on the OpenSuperQ project with a focus on 3D integration. After successfully defending his thesis in June 2024, Graham remained in the Quantum Device Lab as a postdoctoral researcher. Prior to his doctorate, he supported us as a research assistant. He has previously carried out semester- and master’s thesis projects in our group within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Physics). He left our group in December 2024.

James O'Sullivan worked with us as a PostDoc from February 2021 to July 2023 with focus on quantum optics interactions in superconducting circuits. He obtained an MPhys degree in physics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in quantum condensed matter physics from University College London, during which he focused on coupling superconducting resonators to ensembles of spins to create a quantum memory. Klaus received his PhD degree in physics from the University of Oxford (UK), where he carried out his research in Prof. Ian Walmsley's group. His PhD work was on optical quantum memories and light-matter interactions.

After leaving the Quantum Device Lab he moved on to Stanford University, where he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Physics, Ginzton Laboratory, where he leads the Laboratory for Integrated Nano-Quantum Systems (LINQS).

Pasquale Scarlino joined the Quantum Device Lab in March 2016 as a Postdoc. He obtained his PhD degree from the Spin Qubit Group of Prof. Lieven Vandersypen at the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience, TU Delft in February 2016. After leaving our group he started to work at Microsoft Copenhagen. He was named as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Physics from October 2020 at EPF Lausanne.

Simon Storz completed a PhD at the Quantum Device Lab, focusing on microwave-based quantum networks. Before this, he joined the group in 2016 for his Master's thesis and served as a research assistant. Following his successful defense of his PhD thesis in November 2023, he continued in the lab for several months as a postdoctoral researcher. Simon subsequently began a postdoctoral position in the Hybrid Quantum Systems Group at ETH Zurich under Prof. Yiwen Chu.

joined QuDev in October 2010 as a PhD student to examine the manipulation of Rydberg atoms with on-chip microwave cavities. After defending his PhD thesis in December 2015 he continued to work with us as a PostDoc until August 2016. After leaving our group Tobias moved on to the University of Colorado Boulder to work as a PostDoc with Prof. Cindy Regal.

David joined the Quantum Device Lab in January 2017 as a Postdoc after completing his PhD thesis with Leo Kouwenhoven at the TU Delft in the Netherlands. After leaving our group he started to work as a Quantum Researcher at Microsoft in Delft, Netherlands.

Michele Collodo has been conducting a PhD thesis in our group since October 2014. Prior to joining ETH he obtained a Master's degree in Physics from the Friedrich-Alexander-University in Erlangen, Germany in August 2014. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab, Michele started to work as Application Scientist for Zurich Instruments.

Johannes completed his PhD thesis in July 2019. He also completed a Master's thesis with us for which he was awarded a prize of the Estonian Academy’s Student Research Paper Contest 2014. After leaving our group he started to work at IQM Finland Oy.

Philipp Kurpiers joined the Quantum Device Lab for his master's thesis in September 2012. He then continued as a PhD student to investigate quantum networks with superconducting circuits. After defending his PhD thesis in July 2019 he worked with us as a scientist on developing cryogenic systems for quantum networks applications until March 2020. After leaving our group he started to work at Rohde & Schwarz in Munich.

Christian first joined our group to complete his diploma thesis in 2008 as an exchange student coming from LMU Munich. After his graduation in the summer of 2009, he rejoined our lab as a PhD student.

Stefania Lazăr completed her PhD thesis in August 2023.  She first joined our group in summer 2016 during a 2-month internship and continued to work with us as a research assistant. She received her Bachelor degree in Engineering Physics from the University of California in Berkeley, USA. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab, she started to work for Zurich Instruments.

Paul Magnard first joined the Quantum Device Lab for an internship in summer 2014. After a year in Cambridge University, he then joined Qudev in September 2015 as a PhD student to investigate meter-scale microwave quantum networks with superconducting circuits, and defended his PhD thesis in November 2021. After leaving our group he started to work at Alice & Bob in Paris.

was a PhD student in our group from 2009 and 2014. Jonas defended his thesis in Summer 2014. Previously, he obtained his physics degree from FU Berlin and worked on his diploma thesis at ENS Paris.

Finished his PhD thesis in Spring 2017. He had previously joined our lab for his master thesis project in physics (MSc ETH Physics) in January 2011. 

Ants Remm defended his PhD at Qudev in the fall of 2023. He first joined the lab in 2016 for a semester thesis project. after which continued on a master's thesis in 2017 and a PhD in 2018. His work in the lab focused on quantum error correction using surface codes. After leaving our group he moved on to Boston to work as a research scientist at Atlantic Quantum.

Yves sucessfully completed a PhD thesis at the Quantum Device Lab in December 2017. Prior to starting his PhD thesis, he completed a master's thesis project (MSc ETH CS) in our group in 2011 and worked as a research assistant from Janaury 2012 to March 2012. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab, Yves started to work for Zurich Instruments.

Mathias joined our group in May 2012 as a PhD student to examine the interaction between Rydberg atoms and microwave radiation from on-chip and 3D cavities. After successfully defending his PhD thesis in summer 2018, Mathias started to work at Huba Control AG.

Anna sucessfully completed her PhD thesis at the Quantum Device Lab in November 2017. Prior to working towards her PhD, she completed at the Quantum Device Lab a semester thesis project as part of the ETH Zurich Master's study program  during spring 2011 and a Master's thesis from March 2012 to July 2012.

Theo joined our group in May 2013 for a semester thesis project. After completing his Master's thesis (MSc ETH Physics) in our group he became a graduate student in April 2015. Theo passed away in February 2019.

David Rodriguez, a PhD student at Centro de Astrobiología, joined the Quantum Device Lab in October 2024 for 4 months as a guest researcher. During this time, he was working on the design and testing of superconducting qubit devices, focusing on architectures for quantum optics and communication experiments.

Michael Würth, a PhD student at the Technical University of Munich, joined the Quantum Device Lab in June 2023 for 3 months as a guest researcher. During this time, he was working in areas related to measurement and control of superconducting qubits, including signal processing methods for mitigating distortions of control pulses.

Nora Kerenyi joined the Quantum Device Lab from March to August 2019. She has been working in the administration for more than 13 years now, of which 7 at the ETH Zurich. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab she continued to work in the group of Prof. Yiwen Chu and Prof. Daniela Rupp.

Stefanie Matosevic was part of the Superconducting Circuits team of the ETH Zurich - PSI Quantum Computing Hub. She joined the Quantum Device Lab from July 2020 to June 2021. Stefanie has been working in various administrative positions for the woodworking industry and in the consulting sector. She did further education as an event manager and worked as an event manager and in the field of marketing & communication. Read more

After having conducted a semester project within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics) during the Fall Semester 2021, Kuno was continuing his collaboration with QuDev by investigating the characteristics of tantalum as a base metal layer as part of his master’s thesis in the Spring Semester 2022.

Pascal joined the Quantum Device Lab from February 2016 to March 2018 as a web programmer for our group website.

Alexander Flasby was part of the Superconducting Circuits team of the ETH Zurich - PSI Quantum Computing Hub. He joined the Quantum Device Lab in November 2021 as a Device Fabrication Engineer. Prior to joining our group he obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in physics from ETH Zurich. After leaving our group, he joined the Neuromorphic Electronics with Oxides group as a PhD candidate.

Mihai Gabureac joined our group in August 2017. He is an expert in cleanroom micro- and nano-fabrication with experience in thin film vacuum deposition, selective etching, Ar milling, photo- and e-beam-lithography, as well as advanced surface and structural characterization and metrology. He has worked previously with hybrid magnetic-superconducting tunnel junctions and has developed processes for the oxidation/growth of Alox and MgO tunnel junction barriers using feedback from magnetic devices. Martin Göppl rejoined our lab in September 2016 to work on the realization of 3D integrated circuit-QED systems after having been a PhD student with us from April 2006 to May 2009. Before that, he had obtained a Diploma degree in Physics from TU Munich, Germany. After finishing his PhD, Martin started to work for the company Sensirion.

Thomas Havy was part of the Superconducting Circuits team of the ETH Zurich - PSI Quantum Computing Hub. He joined the Quantum Device Lab in May 2021 as a software engineer. Prior to joining our group, Thomas obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in Microengineering from EPFL.

Bruno joined the Quantum Device Lab in March 2015 for a joint CTI project between Zurich Instruments, ZHAW Winterthur and ETH Zurich. Bruno completed his PhD in the group of Prof. Klaus Ensslin at ETH Zurich in 2012. He then moved to the group of Prof. Olivier Buisson and Wiebke Guichard at the Institut Néel, Grenoble. After finishing the CTI project in May 2017 he is now working for Zurich Instruments.

R&D Engineer/Project Manager. Janis Lütolf joined the Quantum Device Lab in December 2010 after having completed an apprenticeship as Physics Laboratory Assistant at Kistler Instrumente AG in Winterthur. In 2015 he received a Bachelor's degree of Science ZFH in mechanical engineering from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). Janis led the technical staff of the Quantum Device Lab. He also supervised ETH apprentices.

Hansruedi came to ETH more than 40 years ago as a young technician, with the intention to move on the next year. However, different from his original plan he enjoyed the environment at ETH, in particular the collaboration with highly motivated students and professors, so much that he continued working at the Physics Department until his retirement in 2008. Even after his retirement he carried on to support the activities of our group with his great experience on a part-time basis until March 2013.

Melvin Frey joined the Quantum Device Lab in April 2015 after having completed an apprenticeship as a polymechanics at Bruker BioSpin AG. In 2018 he finished his part-time continuing education as a mechanical engineer. He left our group in September 2019.

Tobias joined the Quantum Device Lab in July 2015 after completing an apprenticeship as a physics laboratory assistant with Kistler Instrumente AG, Winterthur. After leaving QuDev Tobias started to study physics at ETH Zurich.

Lab responsible and Technician with focus on cryogenics. Reto Schlatter rejoined the Quantum Device Lab in April 2020 until December 2023. From November 2017 until July 2018 he worked as part of his apprenticeship as a Physics Laboratory Assistant in our group and continued to work with us until the end of 2018. After this he spent time doing his swiss military duties and furthermore he gained some experience working at Ionplus AG.

Adrian joined the Quantum Device Lab from February to June 2016 as technician for the EU project Superconducting Quantum Networks (SuperQuNet). He received a Bachelor's degree of Science ZFH in mechanical engineering from the Zürcher Hochschule ZHAW in July 2015.

Yannick joined our group from January to September 2014. He started his education as a physics laboratory assistant in 2012. After having completed a 1.5 years basic skills training, he was working at the QuDev Lab.

Jonas joined the Quantum Device Lab in October 2014 as ETH apprentices for his final project.

Milan Lezaic joined the Quantum Device Lab in March 2021 as part of his apprenticeship. He started his education at ETH as a physics laboratory assistant in 2018.

Leandro Meyer joined the Quantum Device Lab in March 2022 as part of his apprenticeship. He started his education at ETH as a physics laboratory assistant in 2020.

Nikola Rebac joined the Quantum Device Lab in January 2023 as part of his apprenticeship. He started his education at ETH as a physics laboratory assistant in 2020.

Karl joined the Quantum Device Lab from October 2016 until July2017 as part of his apprenticeship as a physics laboratory assistant that he started at ETH in 2013.

Alexander joined our group in October 2015 to work on his final project at the Quantum Device Lab. He started his education as a physics laboratory assistant (Physiklaborant EFZ) in 2012. After having completed a basic skills training.

Liangyu Chen joined the Quantum Device Lab as a research assistant in autumn 2018. Starting from February 2019 he contucted a master thesis in our group within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Physics).

Ramon joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Spring Semester 2018 for a Master thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Electrical Engineering and Information Technology). He also supported us as a Research Assistant during the autumn semester 2018.

Marco joined the Quantum Device Lab in June 2018 for a master thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Physics). He received his Bachelor degree in Physics from Università di Milano in July 2017.

Fabian Marxer joined the Quantum Device Lab for the spring semester 2018 to carry out a semester project within the ETH Physics Master's program (MSc ETH Physics) with focus on quantum optics interactions in superconducting circuits. Afterwards he conducted a master thesis in our group and supported us as a Research Assistant. He moved on to IQM in Finland.

Philipp conducted his Master's thesis at the Quantum Device Lab. He has also completed a semester thesis here in spring 2008.

Arno joined the Quantum Device Lab in June 2015 to conduct a semester thesis project within the ETH Zürich Master's program (MSc ETH Physics). Arno received his Bachelor degree from the Amsterdam University College. After completing his Master's thesis in our group in October 2016 he worked with us as a research assistant.

Raphael comlpeted a semester thesis project and a Master's thesis (MSc ETH Physics) at the Quantum Device Lab.  After his grauduation in February 2012 he moved on to study towards a teaching diploma.

Adrian first joined our lab as a semester thesis student within the ETH Zurich Master's program (MSc ETH Physics) during the spring term 2014. He then rejoined our group for a Master’s thesis in autumn 2015. After his graduation he worked with us as a research assistant until spring 2017. He then joined Prof. Aeppli's Laboratories for Synchrotron Radiation at the PSI to carry out a PhD-thesis.

Richard Boell joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Fall Semester 2020 for a Master-thesis project entitled "A Net-Zero Continuous Gate Set for Variational Quantum Algorithms" within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics). He was previously in our group for a semester project as part of his Master education (MSc ETH Physics) and supported us afterwards as a Research Assistant from September 2019 to May 2020.

Deniz did a semester thesis project in our lab during fall 2007 and spring 2008 and came back in summer 2009 to complete his Master's thesis. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab in 2010 he moved on to the Nano Electronics and Nano Photonics research group at the Integrated Systems Laboratory of ETH Zurich to carry out a PhD thesis.

Fleming joined the Quantum Device Lab in autumn 2017 for a semester thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Physics). Subsequently he also conducted his Master's thesis in our group.

Silvian has completed his master's thesis at our lab in summer 2009 and previously worked on a semester thesis project with us.

Moritz contucted an external Master thesis in the group of Prof. William D. Oliver at MIT in Boston, USA during the autumn semester 2017.  He was previously in our group for a semester-thesis project as part of his Bachelor (BSc ETH Physics).

Jonas conducted his Master-thesis at the Quantum Device Lab during the spring term 2017. He first joined our group in 2014 for his Bachelor's thesis (BSc ETH Interdisciplinary Sciences).

Patrik conducted an external Master thesis project in the group of Peter Leek at the University of Oxford, UK during the spring term 2017. He was previously in our group for a semester-thesis project as part of his Bachelor education (BSc ETH Physics).

Livio conducted an external Master thesis in the group of Professor Leo DiCarlo at TU Delft, Netherlands during the spring semester 2017. He previously joined our group to accomplish his Bachelor-thesis (BSc ETH Interdisciplinary Sciences).

Adrian Copetudo joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Fall Semester 2020 for his master thesis about a Loophole-free Bell Test within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics). In additon he supported us as a Research Assistant during June. He was previously in our group to carry out a Semester Thesis about Photonic States and Phase Metrology. He obtained his BSc in Physics from the University of Barcelona.

Kristian joined the quantum device lab in spring 2014 for a master thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master's degree program in Micro- and Nanosystems. After he finished his master thesis he started to work at IBM Rüschlikon.

Anna Efimova joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Fall Semester 2022 for a master’s thesis project entitled "The implementation of a device-independent experiment with superconducting circuits" within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics). 

Matteo finished his Master´s degree in Physics at ETH Zurich in April 2013 and continued to work with us as a research assistant until October 2013.

Andreas has been a Diploma student in our lab from September 2007 to August 2008 supported by an European Union Erasmus fellowship. He graduated in physics from University of Vienna, Austria in July 2008. Andreas has been admitted into the Applied Physics Phd program at Yale University in spring 2008 where he conducted a  PhD thesis on hybrid quantum systems in the lab of Rob Schoelkopf.

Dominik joined our group during the spring term 2014 for a semester thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master's program (MSc ETH Physics). He rejoined our group in October 2014 to conduct a Master's thesis (MSc ETH Physics) and was subsequently working with us as a Research assistant until the end of July 2015. After leaving QuDev he started to work at Unity Schweiz AG.

Raquel Garcia Belles joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Spring Semester 2023 for a master's project entitled "Fabrication and characterization of Josephson junction based resonators" within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Quantum Engineering). Read more

Joonas completed his Master's degree at the Quantum Device Lab in January 2011. As a B.A. student at Princeton, Joonas previously worked with superconducting flux qubits whenever he was not rock climbing. After leaving QuDev he moved on to the group of Mikko Möttönen, Aalto University School of Science, Helsinki to conduct a PhD thesis.

Christian completed his Master's thesis here in summer 2010 and continued as a research assistant. In summer 2011 he moved on to the National University of Singapur to work on his PhD thesis.

Samuel conducted a Master's thesis at the Quantum Device Lab (MSc ETH Physics). After completing his thesis in August 2015 he worked with us as a research assistant until December 2015.

Dominik Haegi joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Spring Semester 2022 for a master’s thesis project entitled "Development of Software Tools for Scalable Design of Large SC Circuits" within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics).

Kilian Hanke first joined the Quantum Device Lab in fall 2019 and conducted a semester project focused on RF PCB design as part of the ETH Zurich Physics Bachelor program. Since then he conducted one more semester project in our lab within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Physics) , entitled “Qubit Characterization for Improving Fabrication Processes”. Lukas conducted an external Master's thesis at Caltech in the group of Prof. Oskar Painter that he finished in spring 2014. Before his move to Caltech, Lukas carried out a semester thesis project in our group during  within the ETH Zurich Bachelor's study program (BSc ETH Physics) and continued than to work with us as a Research Assistant. Afterwards Lukas started to work as Electronic Design Engineer at Hexagon & Leica Geosystems in Heerbrugg.

Finn Hoehne carried out his master's thesis within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics) during the Spring Semester 2024. He continued to work with us as a research assistant.

Lukas joined the Quantum Device Lab in September 2012 for a semester thesis project. Then he completed his Master's thesis (MSc ETH Physics) in our group and continued to work with us as a Research Assistant. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab Lukas moved on to Cambridge to start a PhD thesis in the group of Dr. Mete Atature.

David-Dominik joined or group for a semester thesis project in spring 2012 and continued in September 2012 to pursue a Master's thesis in our group within the ETH Zurich Master study program (MSc ETH Physics). After his graduation, David-Dominik moved on to conduct a PhD thisis in the group of Dr. Mete Atature at Cambridge, U.K..

Kirstinn was a semester thesis student at the Quantum Device Lab in the fall semester 2010 and rejoined our group in September 2011 to complete a  Master's thesis (MSc ETH Physics).  After leaving the Quantum Device Lab, Kirstinn moved on to CEA Saclay to conduct a PhD thesis.

Chen joined the Quantum Device Lab in autumn 2014 for a semester thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master's program (MSc ETH Physics). After finishing his Semester's thesis he conducted a Master's thesis in our group.

Jonas Krause joined the Quantum Device Lab for the Fall Semester to carry out a semester project within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics). He finished an external Master student at the University of Cologne in February 2020. He's now doing a PhD on magnetic field resilient transmons at the same lab in Cologne.

Hangxi joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Fall Semester 2017 to carry out a semester project and his master thesis within the ETH Zürich Master's program. After leaving our group he moved on to Chalmers to work on his PhD thesis.

Gabriele Libardi joined the Quantum Device Lab in March 2022 during a 6-month internship as part of his master studies at EPFL in Switzerland.

Gebhard has done a master thesis together with Hartmut Haeffner at the ion trap group at UC Berkeley and Andreas Wallraff. He previously joined our lab for his semester thesis in fall 2008 and his bachelor thesis in spring 2009.

Florian carried out a semester thesis project during the spring term 2012. Florian rejoined the Quantum Device Lab in  October 2013 to complete a Master's thesis (MSc ETH Physics). After his graduation he started to work with us as a Research Assistant. Florian has left our group in November 2014 to start a PhD thesis in the group of Leo Di Carlo in Delft.

Silvio joined the quantum device lab for a semester thesis Summer 2009. He continued as a research assistant until February 2010 and completed his Master's thesis in Summer 2010.

Sergi Masot Llima joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Fall Semester 2020 for a Master-thesis project entitled "Implementing a Quantum Convolution Neural Network (QCNN)" within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Physics).

Peter was working in our lab as a semester thesis student in spring 2007 and as a diploma thesis student from February 2008 to August 2008. Peter was awarded one of world-wide 30 International Fulbright Science and Technology Awards granted by the Fulbright Program fully supporting his PhD at a U.S. institution of his choice. In Spring 2008 he was admitted into the physics program at Harvard University where he was working on nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond in the group of Misha Lukin.

Tim conducted an external Master's thesis in the group of Prof. Konrad Lehnert at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2015. Previously, Tim carried out a semester thesis project at the Quantum Device Lab within the ETH Zurich Bachelor's program (BSc ETH Physics) during the spring semester 2013. Starting from spring 2016 Tim is pursuing a PhD thesis in the group of Prof. Markus Greiner at Harvard University.

Laurent Michaud joined the Quantum Device Lab in August 2021 as a research assistant. He previously conducted his master’s thesis in our group on the topic of 3D integration of superconducting qubits.

Bradley completed a Semester- and a Master's thesis in our group. He was supported by the ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP). After his graduation (MSc ETH Physics) in May 2016, Bradley moved on to UC Berkeley to work with Irfan Siddiqi.

Prior to joining ETH Zurich, Bradely earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA.

Uros Ognjanovic joined the Quantum Device Lab for the Fall Semester 2021 to carry out a semester project entitled "Characterization of subminiature electromechanical switch in a cryostat" within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Quantum Engineering). In the Fall Semester 2022, he rejoined the group for his Master's thesis on the topic of "Quasiparticle Characterization in Tantulum Qubit".

Alexei Orekhov joined the Quantum Device Lab in February 2022 during a 10-month internship as part of his master studies in nanotechnology at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. After leaving our group, he moved on to IBM Rüschlikon to carry out a PhD thesis.

Leon Raabe joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Spring Semester 2020 for a master’s thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics). His work focused on entanglement and Bell-tests in the context of networking architectures for superconducting quantum information processors.

Christoph Rothert joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Fall Semester 2020 for a Master-thesis project entitled "Implementation of Swap Gates for Near-Term Quantum Algorithms" within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics). He was previously in our group for a semester project as part of his Master education.

Antonio first joined our group in spring 2014 to carry out a semester thesis project. He then completed as Master's thesis (MSc ETH Physics) at the Quantum Device Lab and continued to work as a research assistant. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab Antonio moved on to carry out a PhD thesis at MPQ in the group of Prof. Immanuel Bloch.

Silvia joined the quantum device lab in HS 2013 for a semester thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master program and also conducted her Master's thesis (MSc ETH Physics) in the Qudev lab. She then completed her teaching diploma in Physics and is currently a PhD student in the group of Dag Winkler at Chalmers working on high temperature superconducting SQUIDs for MEG

Francesco Maria Ruscio joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Fall Semester 2023 for a master’s thesis project entitled “Readout of Superconducting Qubits” within the ETH Zurich Master program (MSc ETH Quantum Engineering). He was previously in our group for the Quantech Workshop as part of his Master education.

Simon has been a Semester thesis student with us in spring 2008 and a Master's thesis student from fall 2008 to spring 2009 working on superconducting circuits for quantum information processing. After leaving the Quantum Device Lab he started a PhD with Carol Webster at NPL in collaboration with Phil Meeson at Royal Holloway in the U.K. where he worked on quantum phase slips.

She performed part of her research work for her diploma thesis in the lab of Rob Schoelkopf at Yale University. Nicolas Thill joined the Quantum Device Lab in May 2023 for a master’s thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics). He was previously in our group for a semester project as part of his Master education (MSc ETH Physics)]. He has supported us as a research assistant in March and April 2023.

Jann conducted Master-thesis at the Quantum Device Lab as part of the Master's program (MSc ETH Physics). He received his Bachelor degree in Physics from the University of Göttingen in Germany.

Shengpu Wang joined the Quantum Device Lab for the Spring Semester 2024 to carry out a master's thesis within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Quantum Engineering).

Lucien Wernli joined the Quantum Device Lab for the Spring Semester 2020 to carry out a master thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Interdisciplinary Sciences). His work focused on investigating a scheme for photon/photon logic gates using superconducting circuits.

Yuze Wu joined the Quantum Device Lab during the Fall Semester 2021 for a master’s thesis project entitled "enhancement of coupling between a superconducting waveguide and a semiconductor quantum dot system" within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Materials Science).

Arne Wulff joined the Quantum Device Lab in September 2021 as a research assistant. He previously conducted his semester project followed by a Master-thesis project within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics).

Yulin was a Master's thesis student in our lab from fall 2011 to spring 2012 (MSc ETH Physics). In autumn 2012 he started his PhD thesis at the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (D-MTEC), ETH Zurich.

Zhiren joined the Quantum Device Lab in March 2017 for a six-month internship as part of his master-thesis that he conducted at EPF Lausanne in nanotechnology.

His main focus in PSI is development of PycQED software. Previously Mindaugas worked as a CTO of a large experience and leisure gifts company.

Barkay Guttel joined the Quantum Device Lab in September 2022 during a 2-month internship as part of his PhD studies in physics at the Weizmann institute of science in Israel.

Karl has his bachelor's of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He has worked at the Institute for Quantum Computing in Waterloo, Anyon Systems in Montreal, and he is joining ETH for nine months beginning September 2017. His interests are in engineered quantum systems, microwave engineering, fabrication, and the experimental realization of quantum computing.

Alexander Rommens joined the Quantum Device Lab as a research assistant in October 2023 alongside the Quantum Engineering MSc program. His work was focused on the implementation of modular quantum computers using flip-chip architectures. Previously he worked on superconducting circuit design in the Bosonic Quantum Information group at PSI and loss in qubit flip-chips in the Hybrid Quantum Systems group at ETH.

Otto Schmidt joined the Quantum Device Lab in June 2023 as a Research Assistant. Previously he worked with us during a 5-month internship until October 2022 as part of his Bachelor studies in physics at ETH Zürich. His research focus was implementing new driving software for the Kelvinox system.

Ramy came from Ecole normale supérieure, Paris. He had worked on modelling and experimentally implementing two-qubit geometric gates using Transmon qubits from March to July 2015.

Ziyad received his Bachelor degree from the ENS Lyon. He joned the Quantum Device Lab during  the spring term 2015 for a three month internship.

was working with us as a summer student from Jul. - Oct. 2006. He graduated from Yale College ('05), New Haven, CT. Now he works at a small electrochemistry research company near Boston called Giner and is a part time PhD student in Physics at MIT, Cambrdige, MA.

Batuhan Keskin joined the Quantum Device Lab in January 2023 during a 3-month internship as part of his Bachelor studies in electrical-electronics engineering and physics at Bogazici University in Turkey.

Jacob joined the Quantum Device Lab in May 2017 for a four-month internship as a Bachelor's student in physics at the University of Waterloo in Canada. He has worked at the Institute for Quantum Computing, the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, and the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology at The University of Tokyo studying superconducting qubits.

Pierre-Antoine Mouny joined the Quantum Device Lab in March 2020 during a 6-month internship as part of his master studies in Quantum Engineering at Télécom Paris in France.

Grégoire joined the Quantum Device Lab in April 2017 as a summer student. He was a normalien civil servant student undertaking an MSc in fundamental and applied Physics at École Normale Supérieur Paris-Saclay.

She joined the group for a project within the manipulation of supersonic beams of Rydberg atoms during summer 2015. Marie-Therese studies physics at Vienna’s University of Technology. So far she has worked on the measurement of ultra-short laser pulses, the fabrication of Josephson Junctions and computationally investigated the transition of the Hubbard model to the Falicov Kimball model.

Marten joined our group as a summer student during his bachelor studies at LMU Munich from August to September 2012.

Pavel worked with us for a two-month internship in summer 2017 as part of his Master degree program that he conducted in the Laboratory of Artificial Quantum Systems at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Russia. Prior to that, he earned a Bachelor's degree at Landau Institute of Theoretical Physics.

Sarthak joined the Quantum Device Lab as a summer student from April to July 2013 during his physics degree programm at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India.

Natalie Suter joined the Quantum Device Lab in May 2022 for a 5-month internship as part of her bachelor studies in computer science at ETH in Zürich.

Ivan Tsitsilin joined the Quantum Device Lab in March for a three-and-a-half-month internship as part of his master studies at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). He also supported us during Summer 2019.

Francesco Zatelli joined the Quantum Device Lab in June 2022 for a 3-month internship as part of his master studies in Applied Physics at TU Delft in the Netherlands.
